We are continuing our commitment and investment into customer service, safety and business-wide innovation, with the recent development of its Uddingston site.
To improve the customer experience at collections and to create a safer environment for all, yard improvements have been made, including the resurfacing of customer collections and delivery areas. In addition, new dedicated vehicle bays and a safety zone have been put in place to ensure the safety of our staff and customers who visit our Uddingston site.
Not only has the yard area seen a transformation, but a building modernisation plan has been put in place to ensure that buildings are maintained to offer a professional service now and for years to come. This includes new roofs, which are being installed by Pro Clad, a local customer to the Uddingston site. For our employees there are also new staff welfare facilities, including an upgraded kitchen and breakout facility.
To continually improve the service to our customers, upgrades to Customer Service and Logistics IT equipment have been developed and are being implemented. Additionally, new dedicated Customer Services and Logistic facilities will be in place early 2022 providing more space and customer access to services.
We have introduced a new logistics team structure, which sees a change to the shift pattern, providing a longer operational period, resulting in the improvement of vehicle loading and stock replenishment. In addition, a management succession plan is in place within the Logistics team. John Devine has joined our team from PDM, bringing with him a wealth of experience in our warehousing and stock handling. Lisa Weir has moved from her previous role within Customer Services to train as a Logistics Planner, ensuring stock is being effectively managed and utilising her Customer Service experience to provide better communication. Furthermore, additional capacity is being added to Logistics who are dedicated to offering an enhanced service.
Finally, as you may have seen on the roads or in the yard, we have introduced a new dedicated fleet of specialist commercial transport vehicles earlier this year, to meet our nationwide operational requirements. Thanks to the latest technology, the vehicles will help improve the safety of road users, the general public, customers and drivers, as well as reducing the impact on the environment. With XPO’s specialist fleet management processes and solutions, our customers will feel the benefit of this investment, providing a reliable, professional and improved level of service.
